new transfer new comp and basically white washing the area

So this past week was a good week! On monday we spent the rest of the day in the apartment because Elder Freestone had to pack and then that night we went around and he was saying goodbye to some people that he wanted a picture with so that was cool. I took a lot of pictures! Then Tuesday it was a lot more packing and more picture taking for me, but it was a good day we saw a lot of people so that was good!

Then Wednesday came so that morning we met up with the Spanish elders and my comp and the other elder who was being transferred drove to the mission home and I was a Spanish elder for about half a day so that was fun! We didn't do a ton of proselyting, but hey I was still Spanish for a day! Then at like 1:00 our comps got to the apartment and I met my new comp  Elder Taugavau he is from Oakland California and has been out 6 months he is also Samoan. We get along great so that is good then the rest of Wednesday was stop bys and we had dinner which was really good then we had one appt at 8 with Gus who is still not progressing we might put him on the back burner for a while. He just won't try to take any action of faith it is a little frustrating! but it is all good!

Then on Thursday it was raining all day, but in the morning the Zone Leaders were supposed to be coming over to talk to me about being a district leader, but they ended not coming so we waited around for 1 hour for nothing, but it is all good. Then we did some tracting and more tracting. Then we had an appt with Culley our investigator and he told us he has a testimony and it is powerful, but he won't get baptized because his parents have no idea he has ever met with missionaries ever and he has been meeting with missionaries for 2 years and he thinks they will kick him out and cut him off if he chooses to get baptized. So he said he is waiting until he moves out. Hopefully he will find the courage to finally talk to his parents! We will see! We also met with a less active Brother Cook and he has a ton of Native American stuff it was crazy. He has his own toma hawk and arrows and stuff it was cool he is a cool guy!

On friday in the morning the zls made it to talk to me about being a district leader then we had weekly planning and it was a long one because we went through the whole area book page by page and tried to find some people to go and see. So that took pretty much till dinner and then we went to dinner and it was homemade pizza and that was really good. Then that night we went to try and see a less active and talked to one of their daughters and man it was a good contact, but she has a had a rough life it was sad to see. She thinks being a rebel and being bad is a good thing, but hopefully we can get them to comeback to church they gave two sons who are in their teens who aren't baptized so they are our focus right now. Trying to get them on board and back to church!

On Saturday in the morning we went to mow a member's lawn who is out of town and that went well it was a good time. I guess it had been a while since I had mowed a lawn, but it was good then we had lunch  and we went to work which was a lot of stop bys we did a lot of that and a lot of tracting that is for sure. We had Stake Conference that night so we went to Wendys by the church for dinner and a member works there apparently. He told them to give us a 10% discount, but my order has just gotten rung up before so I did not get it, but we get a 10% discount there so that is cool. Then we talked to a kid named Zion for a while in there he was cool then went to Stake conference and it was really good President Forbes was there and he gave a really good talk and it was all about how we can effectively use Ward Councils and Dale G Runlund from the Seventy was there who spoke at conference and he gave one of my favorite talks at conference so that was cool. I got to meet him after and shake his hand that was cool!

So Sunday morning we had Stake Conference and that session was also really good so that was great! Then after we ate lunch and tracted and tried to see some less actives then we had a lesson with a family whose 8 year old is getting baptized in August so we are teaching him one lesson a month and going through the lessons and it was a great lesson on the Restoration so that was great! Then we had some really good french dip sandwiches for dinner there as well! That night was president's fireside and we had someone set up to go then he canceled an hour before. Then we setup a new one who said he could most likely go, but then said he couldn't 5 minutes before we were going to pick him up so we ended up not being able to go so that was too bad. So we just stopped by a lot of people and we met someone from Haiti and he told us all about his church called the Celestial Church of Christ  and man it was weird. They do some very interesting things it was weird! but it was a good week overall.

I met someone it the YSA Ward that served in the same mission as Nick so that was cool and then one of Amy's former coworkers found me at Stake Conference so that was cool well that is all till  next week.

Good News and some transfer News

This past week was a pretty good week on Monday we had district p-day and we went and saw the giant ken doll and the giant viking as well. That was cool. Then we tried to grill at a park. We couldn't get the grill lit because there was to much wind so we just hung out and played basketball and stuff it was a fun p-day none the less! That night was not too exciting, but Tuesday was an OK day. We did a lot of tracting man you get a lot more exercise when you tract a lot than I imagined before which is a good thing for me! It was a good day Tuesday nothing really exciting happened but that is ok!

On Wednesday we had district meeting and that was really good we talked a lot about finding new people and how we can improve that so that was fun! and then we had district lunch at wendy's which was really good because I had coupons so the food just seemed to taste better! That afternoon was really good we went to see a potential investigator named Don and he let us in and we got to teach him and it was a great lesson he is super cool and was pretty sincere we have an other appt with him tonight so we will see how that goes. We have had at least 1 new investigator 2 weeks in a row that is great. It has been awhile since I have had that happen on my mission so that was great. That night we met with Gus again the investigator who has been investigating for a long time and is just not moving it was a pretty unproductive lesson we will probably drop him for a little while soon because honestly it would be more effective to tract at 8pm at night. so we will see how that all goes this week!

Thursday was a good day we had a few appts we had one with a priest in the ward who is a jr in school who we are just going trough PMG with and his sister who leaves on her mission in June jumped in the lesson and it was really good we answered a lot of questions about mission life and it was a good lesson so that was great! Then that evening it started to pour and we had to go get something for a object lesson with the member we were having dinner with and it was pouring hard and I had to back my comp out of the parking spot so that was not a lot of fun I got soaked! So then like 1 min later the rain stopped so if we would of waited one minute I would have been dry so that was a little annoying, but it is all good!

on Friday we did a lot of planning and then we had a lesson with a investigator at a park, but the zone leaders were exchanging with us for that lesson so I was just sitting in the car with the other zone leader getting an interview while the lesson was going on so that was fun, I guess, it wasn't bad just a little boring. That day were were tracting and we knocked on a door and I saw one of the members drive by and I waved and then the lady answered and said no and we see a car back up super fast into the driveway and it was the member. He called the lady and said to her "I know these guys" and invited her to church and he save that contact. He turned it into a really good contact we talked to her for like 5 mins after so that was good it was a crazy experience to see him just back up randomly into her driveway, but it was a good one! Then we had dinner with a part member family in the ward and they are super cool we got some good service out of it we are mowing there lawn while they are on vacation so that is good!

Then comes Saturday and we had a zone service that morning helping out at a charity run and we were course marshals and so we were directing people on the 5k course! and I picked up a  sign off of the ground and was waving it around. So I got to fulfill a childhood dream of being a sign waver so that was fun. Then we had a zone lunch at a pizza buffet and that was good they have great food! But that night was a pretty good night we got a few pretty solid potential investigators so that was good! Then we went to Bro Stanitch's house and watched the Legacy and that was great! It is crazy to see how much the early saints sacrifice and suffered for the church and we don't have to give nearly as much as they did!

Sunday was a great meeting and we got recruited to help out in Jr primary so that was really fun! Then after church we tracted till dinner, but we found a pretty solid potential investigator while knocking. He drove into his driveway and said it is a sign! and so that was great! Then we went to dinner a skyped and were there for a while because my comp's family was late to skype, but it was a god day! and a great week. Then today I found out that I am getting a new comp and I am the new district leader for this district so that will be exciting, but it is also very humbling that the Lord trusts me with that responsibility! well till next week

Just one of those weeks!

Well this past week was a little rough and that can happen on a mission. Some weeks are great and others are not. Sometime people glorify a mission and make it seem like it won't be a hard thing to do, but it is definitely hard it can be really rough, but it is all worth it because of all the grate blessing you see and how you see people change their lives through receiving the gospel. I love being on a mission, but it is hard, but nothing good comes really easy!

The week started off good on pday we just spent all day in the apartment doing stuff like making new scripture cases and decorating our planners and stuff like that it was a pretty relaxing p-day which was nice! I for got my planners again so I am forgetting alot of details of what we did, but I will try my best to remember what went on this week! Well Tuesday we did alot of biking because it was close to the end of the month and we were running low on miles and did alot of tracting, but we had dinner at the wml house and that was good. Then we saw these two guys a father and son who are coming back in activity from complete inactivity and it is awesome to see how they are just soaking it all up and just loving it you can see there testimonies growing each and everyday! It is amazing to watch!

Then on Wednesday morning we had interviews with President and during my whole interview I guess he was tried of sitting because he was standing and pacing the whole time kinda like he was interrogating me, but he wasn't. It was a good interview President Forbes it a great Mission President you can tell he cares about us personally and how we are doing. Then we had a district lunch at Taco Bell and that was fantastic because I hadn't eaten there in forever so that was good! Wednesday night was saw a guy named Gus who has been investigating for a while and he just wants complete factual evidence of everything it is so frustrating because he claims the bible has 100% factual evidence, but it doesn't. We are trying to get him to understand the concept of faith! Man it is hard!
Then Thursday happened that is when the week went down hill. We were biking everywhere and then on the way to dinner a screw was loose on the bike and a piece of the brake fell off then as I was cruising down a hill I hit the brake to slow down and just somehow someway just biffed it and crashed. I was totally fine, but my front rim was bent so I had to walk my bike all the way to our dinner appointment that was no fun and then he gave us ride home thank goodness. Then our 8:00 appointment cancelled so that was no good, but we made the most of it. I was super frustrated with myself and the bike all night. The next morning I was making breakfast listening to some music and it quoted this scripture from the Doctrine and Covenants  121:7-10 and 122:5-8 and it mad me realize that my trials were not that bad and that the Lord would help me through them he suffered so much more then we do and he did it so we don't have to suffer. It made me realize I would be fine and I felt alot better after that. That morning there is a lady downstairs who missionaries found forever ago, a side note we don't live in our area so we can't teach here, but she always call us down to help her out which I don't mind, but she is super attached to missionaries it is not a good situation. The Sisters of the area that she lives in see her too, but she always calls us down and tries to get us to move stuff around in her apartment when her husband isn't there which we can't do because it is against the rules. It is a hard situation, but we are moving out of that apartment at the end of the month so that will be good for that situation! The rest of the day was an okay day lots of planning as usual! and tracting.

On Saturday we were doing alot of tracting and we were in a trailer park and met 4 Nigerian dudes who told us to come back Sunday evening so that was exciting and then we had Arbys for dinner that night and it was really good! Sunday was great. Church was really good then after church man it was hot it was like 87 degrees and it was Fast Sunday so I had no water yet that day and we were walking around. Man it was exhausting! I thought I was going to fall over and pass out. Then we went to dinner and this storm came out of now where and just dumped on us all during dinner and dropped the temp to 60 which was super nice!  Then that night we went back to the Nigerian dudes, but only one was there but we taught him and he accepted a return appointment so that was fantastic. It was a great lesson! but in the middle he got a business phone call and it was a little sketchy sounding, but it is cool because he want us to some back and he has a sweet name his name is Dumimoses crazy name right! Well it was an okay week. Today we are going to see a giant ken statue and some big vikings! so that will be cool then we are grilling and playing basketball and volleyball. So it should be a fun day! well that is all till next week

1st full week in Farmington!

So this past week has been a good week!  On Monday we had zone pday we played some games and did some sports. We played handball and I had never played it before, but it is a fun game! It was a blast. We had to go straight form there to our dinner and man I was sweaty so that was not the best situation, but it was all good. I don't think I smelled too bad. Well I hope so  at least ;). That night we did some tracting and we met this guy who coaches football for the University of Minnesota and man he was HUGE!!!! His arms where like almost as big as my legs it was crazy, but he was super nice and said to come back so that would be cool if we could start teaching him. That would be fun!

On Tuesday we went to the library for our computer time and I was doing family history work and I think I found a name that needs all of his work done so that was a super cool experience. That is the first time i have found a name so that was cool! Then my companion was feeling dizzy so I drove home and then he took a nap because he was way out of it and not feeling well. So I ate lunch and read Ensigns for an hour and a half! It was cool he woke up and was feeling better so that was good. Then we went out to work and tried to see some people and did some walking around and tracting and it was fun. Then we had dinner at a member's house who use to be a mission president in Michigan and that was cool he is from the same town that my comp is from so they talked alot about the small town that they are from. It was good then we saw a guy and his son who are coming back into activity. My comp and his last comp contacted him while walking and he has been coming to church ever since. It was a great lesson he bore a powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon so that was cool. It was a great lesson it is cool to see him coming back! Then we did a lot of stopbys the rest of the night, but it was a great day!

Wednesday we had district meeting and it was good. It is weird for it to only be us and one other set of elders in our district, but it is cool. It was still good then we went out to Quiznos after so that was fun! We taught an guy who is 19. He has been investigating for about 2 years and he knows it is all true, but he still lives with his parents and they are strong Catholics and don't know he has even met with missionaries at all and he is afraid about what they will do if he tells them he is going to be baptized. So hopefully he can get the courage to tell them because he knows that is is the right thing to get baptize, but he isn't there yet so hopefully he can make it to that point soon! That night we saw a guy named Brother Stanitch who is an older guy who is not all the way there, but he is super funny he keep claiming that he has seen me on Facebook in a picture with  a bunch of other missionaries who i have never met, but it is funny. It was a good lesson he is hilarious!

Friday we did lots of planning as usual! Then we had correlation and dinner at our Ward Mission Leaders house and that was crazy we had crapes and his kids were going crazy the whole time throwing powdered sugar in the air and stuff like that but it was a good dinner that night it rained hard and we read the Book of Mormon with a guy named Chuck who is disabled he is less active because of health and I found my new favorite verses in the Book of Mormon! They are 2nd Nephi 17-24 they are super good I love them!

Saturday we did some tracting then we had an appt with a former investigator and she pushed it back form 1 to 2 which was fine. Our joint teacher was cool with that. Then we were on our way out there and she pushed it to 3. So we did a ton of stopbys with this guy in the ward and was cool with it. So that was good then we finally got to see her and she used to have a baptism date  but she dropped it. She is a single mom of 4 kids and you can tell she is trying really hard she has so much potential it will be a hard path, but I think we can help her get back on track again!

On Sunday we biked like all day long and it was tiring but it was good. We did some tracting and then one of the office workers dropped off us some box springs for our beds so that is great. So now I won't sink into my bed which is good I slept better last night! Well that is all for this well till next week
